![]() He then came out to wash his hands, but actually only rinsed them.GROSS! The whole experience was a disappointment. I witnessed a large container of shrimp sitting out on the counter without refrigeration, and watched the cook sneeze 3 times on the counter. The drinks were watered down, the restroom was barely functional and the restaurant was a case of food poisoning waiting to happen. The wi-fi only worked near the building per the people sitting near us. We had our very own piece of fenced in ocean.no waves, no snorkling (the sea life was fenced out), and we were approached by vendors every 2-5 minutes for the 3 hours we were there. The man welcomed us to his "beach club" (a dirt floored, open front building) where he pointed out the restroom and "shower" then took us across the street to beach, which was wall to wall tables and chairs and loungers. The driver got out and talked to a man, then motioned for us to get out. We then got into another van (NO AC!) and were driven a few miles to a sketchy area and pulled into a driveway. ![]() There, we paid the $ and one person per group had to fill out a paper. We got into the lightly air conditioned van, waited in the heat for more people and then were driven a few blocks to a street corner "kiosk" and dropped off. ![]() Money back if you find seaweed." I thought to myself that I thought the beach was free, but didn't say anything. It'll be $4 for air conditioned taxi and $15 for the beach, includes beach chairs, bathrooms and showers, wi-fi, and no seaweed. The taxi driver said, "Of course, no problem. We had to say "no" so many times! Shop owners weren't very friendly and some were even rude, but one kind one helped us navigate our way out to the taxi area. Many of the store fronts were trying to hand out some kind of moisturizer. The cruise port is a busy place, and you can find yourself walking in circles trying to get out of there to the taxi area. We planned to get off the ship, tour the cruise port then go to Playa Mahuhual. I paid twice what it is worth and they originally wanted double what I paid which would have been way too much for a thin white gold chain. When I arrived home, I got a magnifying glass and discovered that the stamp is 975 VJ which is a silver mixed with another element. Considering they are at the port, I hoped they were vetted and reputable to work with. I tried to see the stamp but couldn’t because it’s so small on the clasp. I broke a gold chain and decided to buy a new one. I may do that next time.Īt the port, DO NOT BUY JEWELRY FROM JOY GALILEA BACALAR or any other jewelry store. There is a pool at the port which is accessible with the purchase of a drink. Purchased hand painted cover ups from one of the vendors and she asked for a tip. Came very close to getting a massage on the beach but the table was falling apart. Must take cash because they do a serious up charge for credit card purchases. There really wasn’t much to see on the city tour and most of what was discussed was political. I took one of the cruise excursions which include a city tour and beach time.
